A Few Words on This Blog… The title comes from a poem by Patrice Lumumba, which starts with the line, "For a thousand years, you, Africa, suffered like beast." I want to have a dialogue on African issues that don't get attention in Western media. Most of the focus will be on politics, foreign policy, HIV/AIDS, human rights and humanitarian emergencies. We can talk about Darfur too. Be warned…if a non-African country happens to be the flavor of the day in current events (i.e…Iran, Venezuela, etc.), I may occassionally jump continents.
Me. 50 Words or Less… I'm a grad. student in political science. I work in communications to keep out of debtor's prison. I'm involved with local human rights groups and I volunteer in the ER as a sexual assault/violence intervention advocate.
